I have known Maya since a teenager and recently met her again after not seeing her for many years in my hometown Goes in Zeeland. She is an artist and was an inspiration for me as a young girl as she has an undeniable natural sense of style and makes beautiful art work. A dreamer and a mother to a son named Hermes like a modern Myth.

In the illustration Maya is caressing her younger self while wearing a mens shirt and tie, they are having fun and teasing each other.

Yoruba belief holds that everyone is shaped by paired opposites, embodied most powerfully in twins.

Ibeji symbolises duality and balance, opposite forces are complementary rather than opposing. The term Ibeji simply means “twins” (from Yoruba: ibi “born” + eji “two”)Twins are considered deeply blessed and spiritually potent, linked closely to the Orisha Shango (god of thunder), who grants them special protection.

Heart and feather earrings are made from porcelain and available in a variety of colours and printed finishes. Each style is produced in small editions.

The ancient Egyptian heart pendant, often referred to as a heart amulet or "ib" amulet, held profound significance in both life and death. In ancient Egyptian belief, the heart (ib) was considered the seat of intelligence, emotions, memory, and the soul. It played a central role in the afterlife, particularly during the "Weighing of the Heart" ceremony, where the heart was weighed against the feather of Ma'at, the goddess of truth and justice, to determine the deceased's worthiness for the afterlife.

To protect the heart and ensure a favorable judgment, heart-shaped amulets were placed over or near the heart within the mummy's wrappings. These amulets were often inscribed with spells from the Book of the Dead, notably Spell 30B, which implored the heart not to testify against the deceased. Materials like red carnelian were commonly used, symbolizing life and protection.

Spell 30B as a conversation with yourself, reminding you not to judge yourself too harshly, while striving for harmony in daily life and actions. The only one who can truly judge you is you, keeping in mind that your flaws are also your greatest gifts. Wear these earrings to highlight all that is beautiful about you, the polished and the raw.
